why long distance relationships are the best thing ever:

long distance relationships are the best thing ever because you learn to value time. whether it’s an entire day spent together marathoning your favorite films, three hours of stargazing, one hour of laughing at the airport, or five minutes between classes to grab coffee—every single second together matters. because we never know how much time we’re going to get with someone: forever is not a finite infinity. long distance relationships are the best thing ever because you learn how to fight. fights where you can’t slam the car door or tune the other person out or deal with it later—you have to learn to communicate effectively because all you’ve got is silence on the other end of the phone that stretches into sorrys and understanding that none of the little things matter. long distance relationships are the best thing ever because reunions are sweet—and it’s like you’ve never kissed them before and everything is new and sparkling and you feel like a giddy little kid again and you can’t remember ever feeling as happy or excited. long distance relationships are the best thing ever because you can blush freely, share easily, grow individually, tell stories, ask questions, and have someone to miss—and have someone miss you. long distance relationships are the best thing ever because they are the worst thing ever: they are heartbreaking. you will fight back tears during late night phone calls because all you can think about is a countdown that only seems to get longer with time. you will be reckless with your words and cavalier with your time and you will hurt the other person, and they will hurt you. your heart will ache, you strength will break, and you won’t be able to imagine anything ever being worse. and guess what? it will be worth it. long distance relationships are the best thing ever because nobody endures them unless they think the other person is worth it. and, damn. he is so worth it.
